BEHIND THE SCENES OF VERY NICE, VERY NICE - FOYER LUCE-GUILBEAULT
The Cinematheque has chosen from its reserves some of the precious photos used to create the short film Very Nice, Very Nice. This landmark film by Arthur Lipsett is also a masterpiece of Canadian experimental animation. The viewer will have the opportunity to admire the photochemical photographs as well as the complexity of the edited sequences of images and the skill of the artist. Historical documents, such as a letter of congratulations from Stanley Kubrick and the storyboard, broaden the scope of this exhibition.

THEODORE USHEV: ENCAUSTIC PAINTINGS - SALLE NORMAN-MCLAREN
The Physics of Sorrow was made with the technique of encaustic painting, which dates back to Antiquity and which Theodore Ushev has magnificently made his own, inspired by his father, a visual artist himself. For this exhibition, the filmmaker has chosen fifteen paintings from the film allowing a better understanding of his approach, his skill and his gesture. Based on the addition of colour pigments to beeswax, this technique offers luminous works, with a particular grain and vibrant colours.

FRANCINE DESBIENS, LIVE MODELS - ESPACE LOUISE-BEAUDET
Now retired, Francine Desbiens is a trailblazer from the NFB’s French animation studio. A committed filmmaker whose work is marked by a profound humanity, Francine Desbiens now paints portraits based on live models. This selection of the artists’ personal collection offers a gallery of characters whose physical traits inspired the artist.

ABOUT MOUVEMENT DELUXE - SALLE RAOUL-BARRÉ
Mouvement Deluxe is a popular Quebec web series featuring very colourful characters…to say the least. Born of an indomitable DIY spirit, these puppets and sets take us behind the scenes of the series and bring to light the talent and the prankster spirit of its creators.

Students of the class,* Illustration : exploration,* given by filmmaker Janice Nadeau at UQAM School of Design, present the result of their work since the beginning of the year, offering us a series of animated gifs on the theme of “Shelter.”
