Steven Woloshen's family came from the Ukraine. All their lives, they were looking for a home. For more than 600 years, they traveled from North Africa, Spain, Poland, Belarus and by the turn of the 20th century, ended up at Odessa, saving their money for a passage to Canada. Woloshen's film is constructed as an experimental performance paralleling that journey. After being given a 35mm film print of Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven (1976) by Emil Loteanu, Woloshen placed the print on top of IMAX raw stock film in a dark corridor, and walked its length, exposing it to bursts of light. That journey is recorded on film.
