The vulgar, adults-only satire peppered with social critiques and references to prevailing politics, made in the same outspoken, provocative tone as South Park and Beavis and Butt-Head, is a humorous and authentic report card of the backward, post-millennium political and social apparatus of Eastern Europe as seen from the point of view of straight-talking children, that is, from the grassroots. The low-budget film was made, of necessity, using spatial imagery blending 2D and 3D effects. The Pest setting was modelled in 3D in a ‘broad-brush’ way, aiming for picturesque perspectives and not meticulous detail. The faces and bodies of characters are two dimensional and mobilized in a style and spatial effect resembling one of the earliest animation techniques, the paper cut-out, which gives the figures’ movements an awkward and imperfect effect. Digital restauration was carried out under the supervision of Áron Gauder director and Erik Novák producer.
