Meeting with Izabela Plucinska
2025-05-30 14:00:00
90 min

A graduate of the Academy of Film, Television and Theatre in Lódz, Poland, and the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Potsdam, Germany, Izabela Plucinska has been reinventing stop motion animation since her first films in the late 1990s. Combining sculpture, drawing and painting, she creates composite images characterized by their remarkable spatial organization. She has also addressed adult themes such as domestic violence and sexuality, developing a body of work in which comedy and drama form a distinctive whole. For her two recent films, Joko and Portrait de Suzanne, she adapted the French writer Roland Topor, letting her talent for the grotesque shine through. This event will provide an opportunity to discover the director's creative mechanisms and techniques.
