90 min
Salle Fernand-Seguin
The Sommets du cinéma d’animation, in partnership with the NFB, are pleased to invite you to an Artist’s Talk with Arash Akhgari.
An Iranian-born, Montreal-based animator and visual artist, Arash incorporates different traditional techniques into audiovisual explorations that often address individual or social disconnect. His films An Echoing Memory of a Tongue, Out of Touch and The Thing Is Lost have been screened and awarded at many international and national film festivals. His work was also featured on CBC Arts and Radio-Canada.
During this event, the filmmaker will discuss the creative process behind his latest animated short, In the Shallows, his first collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada. Through a carefully choreographed collision of hand-made sculptural collages and ink and paint animation, this four-minute film takes us on a deep dive into the shallow and fragmented world of news, entertainment and ads, where we can easily drown in the dangerous allure of mass-media intoxication.
This discussion will be held in English.
